home
Made in response to the theme The Digital Age, HOME is one of 25 new works by selected artists displayed at the Herrick gallery for Art Below’s summer exhibition as a central part of the Mayfair Art Weekend.
We are living in a time that allows wonderful opportunities for connection, yet still people are struggling with disconnection... from themselves, each other, and the world around them.
Personally, politically, and environmentally we are seeing greater extremes on the upswing. Greater highs matched by greater lows. In unsettling times of imbalance I believe we can all make a difference by finding balance within ourselves... HOME is a place inside.
The symbol in the centre of this design is called a Merkaba. It is an ancient symbol of sacred geometry and translates as Light Spirit Body.
It symbolises our different states of being. The first home we have is in our physical bodies (Ba), the second layer is our mental perception (Ka), and the third is our consciousness (Mer). We must nurture body, mind and spirit in order to feel full up and at peace within ourselves.
In today’s increasingly busy digital world where we feed and manage our online personas, let us remember to pay attention to the things that make us whole by taking a moment to stop and take a deep breath. To live mindfully. To take action from a heart-centred place. To connect. To come HOME.
By changing ourselves we change the world.
