Ostara
20th March 2018 | Spring Equinox
The word Ostara is just one of the names applied to the celebration of the spring equinox. The origin comes from Eostre, a Germanic goddess of spring, although the changing of the seasons has been widely celebrated by cultures around the World throughout history, as a time of renewal and rebirth. Equinox marks a balance point in the year with equal hours of day and night, and from this point the hours of sunlight increase.
The symbolism of triangles is multi layered which is partly why they are my favourite shape. When orientated point upwards like this they embody rising energy. When viewed from space the Earth appears as a swirling blue planet which marks the centre of this design. Ostara combines sacred geometry with astrological symbols, science and colour theory to represent the increasing light and the Earths orbit around the Sun.
